It will be cheaper to visit during the hurricane/rainy season. If you look at a brochure from (for example) Virgin, it will give you weather conditions month by month and it will be easily apparent which time is the cheapest to visit.

Have a look through the general information pages and the forums on Trip Advisor for Jamaica, there will be an absolute wealth of information there.
  • The best time and therefore the most expensive is between Christmas and Easter. By June it begins to get humid, by July you are at risk of hurricanes until the end of October. If you want good weather and less expensive prices, I suggest late November to eary December or immediately after Easter

I think you pay your money and take your choice. I have holidayed several times in the Caribbean and Florida during the 'hurricane' season and once in the Indian Ocean during Monsoon season, have enjoyed cheaper prices than peak periods and have been lucky enough not to fall seriously foul of the weather.

    I've been Money Tipped!
When i went I went for 3 weeks in May, although it was lovely and hot it rained for pretty much the whole time!
  • Hi,
We love Jamaica. We got married there 5 years ago today and have been back every year since. We have found that when we have stayed in Montego Bay, we had less rain on that side of the island than when we went to Negril. We have been during May, August and September and have been lucky enough to not have had any of our hols spoiled by rain (the wettest time we found was during August). we found that if it did rain it was a short, sharp downpour & everywhere dried out within 15 minutes. It was usually stormy during the night, which didn't affect us. My sister is hoping to get married there next year and so hopefully we will be going back again. I can very highly recommend the Rose Hall & Country Club (which has recently been taken over by the Hilton Group). Good luck with whatever you decide!
  • I go to Jamaica quite a lot as my parent are both from there. I usually go around Chritsmas times although it is more expensive the weather is beautiful at that time of year. This summer we went and although it was nice, it was just too hot and there was a lot of rain. I hope you have a wonderful trip!
