JSA with savings

How much is JSA per week (over 25 year old)

How much is JSA per week if you have savings over £6000 but under £16000?

A search on www.direct.gov.uk will give you the answers that you need.

I believe it it something along the lines of every £250 over £6,000 is classed as you having £1 worth of 'income' per week.

Therefore if you had £7,000 (ie. £1,000 over the £6,000 limit) you would be classed as having £4 worth of income and this would be deducted from the JSA (weekly basis).

Perhaps others would clarify the position better
  • Much obliged to you ih8stress. I could not find that info on direct.gov but I have confirmed it elsewhere.

    What happens when you have
    £6,100 ?
    £6001 ?

What happens when you have spent that £100 or £1 ?
  • Its re-assessed on a weekly Basis. If you fail to inform the STATE of any change in your circumstances you WILL be banged up and/or fined and/or have your bens taken away...
    every £250 over £6,000

Yes but hopefully you can see the confusion,

Is it every whole £250 over 6,000 or
    every part 250 over 6,000 ?

Therefore what is the case if you have 6001 ?

:It's reassessed on a weekly basis" How is it reassessed? Presumbly you have declare when you have spent the amount over 6000 in order to get the reduction removed.
