British Gas Click Energy 5
Options
Not sure if this will have been done to death on here but can I ask what peoples opinions are on this tariff. It is clearly the cheapest tariff out there at the moment although it is not fixed and is drastically below British Gas's current Standard prices and their fixed 2011 prices. However I am suspicious that British Gas are using this to try to attract customers before increasing the prices on this tariff. In a phonecall to them today however they denied this. Incidentally I have already fixed onto ScottishPower 2009 fixed rate.

Loads of threads on this tariff.
There are doing exactly as you say, it is a 'loss leader' to attract as many people as possible to BG.
It is surely a racing certainty that they will increase the price soon.
Provided the new prices are comparable to other companies, the majority of people they have attracted will probably remain with BG.
Over the time BG have had their 'Click' tariffs they have been reasonably competitive.0 -

My switch to SP fixed from BG Click 5 is due to complete in the next few days. I feel uneasy now that I have 'volunteered' to pay 34% more for my electricity :eek:0 -
After pondering to fix or not to fix I have gone with Click Energy 5. I have been assured that it is factual this is the lowest tariff with British Gas.
I think you cannot fix your tariff with Click Energy 5. Should prices rise on this tariff later it will then be time to reassess.
People on low incomes may wish to investigate the Essentials tariff too, although at time of posting Click 5 is the lowest.
PS - Might Scottish Power be doing the same thing as you suggest British Gas is doing?
