Hi Hubby and I have 2 children and claim Tax credits, he works 40hrs and I work 8hrs per week.
Question is can the claim be in my name only or does it have to be a joint claim??
Thanks in advance

Both incomes are taken into account - it has to be a joint claim. Payments are usually made to the mother - sexist or what?0

CTC Payments are made to whomever the couple indicate is the primary carer. WTC is usually paid to the main earner though if both work similar hours they decide themselves who they want the money to go to.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. For financial gain or purely just because he doesn't want his name on the paperwork?
What other reason would you ask the question?
You would financially gain if you did not declare his income as you would receive a greater benefit award, however this is fraud and you would likely end up with a criminal record.0 -

You should ask this in a seperate thread.
Tax Credits are not interested in how much you have in savings, only the interest received from the savings.0
