I have norton internet security and also Spybot.
What do you think of them... are there any viruses that could get past them or would they get them all?
Have a slow page loading and internet connection problem and trying to find the cause.
Just wondering as it hasn't always been this slow.
thanks

How many threads will you begin? Buy some RAM.0

No AV is 100% guaranteed unfortunately some are better than others
I been using Trend internet security 2008 which has spam filters, wireless protection and haven't had any problems in a couple of years usage I do keep things to to date though0 -
Chili - May I suggest that you search for Nortons - you'll find loads of threads.
I don't wish to sound unhelpful but Nortons has been done to death.0 -

Norton can be rubbish at detecting some nasties, and some if finds it can mess up the system when it then gets rid of it!
However, Donnie clearly states you should get some ram then Id have to follow Donnie as he clearly knows what hes talking about.:idea:0 -
At a minimum, purchase another 512MB stick. Example here. 11.99 including delivery. 2 x 512 MB is 20.97 inc delivery.
1 GB would be better, but because I know nothing about your Motherboard I can't be sure that it will accept 1 GB modules. So the safest thing, without getting more technical is to buy one or two 512MB modules.
1 GB module here 17.50 inclusive.
If you'd like a second opinion, you can run the CRUCIAL System Scanner to see if that comes up with more info.0 -
I hate norton its like a virus, eating resources.

also on your point. YES as with all Virus packages some viruses can and probably one day will get past so keep good backups0

Stop this nonsense now, Torres.TorrestheGreat wrote: »if you are clever enough tp register and post on here then you are probably clever enough not to have to worry about viruses. Only the most naive users get them, people who give bank details to strangers via email etc.
Dont worry about viruses and get rid of Norton immediately, its not that easy to get rid of but this will give you a big performance boost. Also, if you're not buying more RAM get rid of unnecessary processes like auto-updates etc these kill your system stone dead.0
