Oh well - thought i would offer here just in case anyone could make use of it, but i will contact the company to let them know i won't be using it, I can't see someone else using it would be a problem as it's only a code, but hopefully they can redraw, shame though, i would have loved to have gone!

Well Chyna-s , i would love to be able to see into the future :rolleyes:, but several months have passed since i entered that comp and my circumstances have changed.

The prize doesn't have to be taken until next year so I'm sure a re-draw will not be a problem

Just one thing though, not meaning to be argumentative but why would the OP enter a competition for such a prize if she knew she wouldn't be able to use it? Doesn't make any sense.

how do you know she knew she couldnt be able to take it
circumstances happen and maybe they were different than before she entered.
they also looked at the pros and cons of going and found out that it would be unreasonable to go.
i won a trip to hawaii and wasnt certain I could go in fact instincts were telling me I couldnt and a few people said I shouldnt have entered that competition
but saying that i DID go in the end and it was fantastic.

on a side note i never enter any of intrepids competitons anymore anyway because none of their holidays include flights

Yeah, I was agreeing with the OP

Ok, yeah I can see how what I said was taken the wrong way LOL!

What I mean was that it's not the OP's fault because it's obvious that no-one would enter a competition if they knew they wouldn't be able to accept the prize. It doesn't make sense.

Dollymixture, have you contacted the competition organisers to see if they perhaps will let you transfer the prize? Maybe they will take pity?

Hiya. Yes i have contacted them, just waiting for a response.
Of course i wouldn't have entered this comp if i knew i couldn't use it! Earlier this year we were planning a trip to Australia and i thought we could utilise this even though there were extra costs. Circumstances have changed now (which i dont want to go into) ... and we wont be able to go away.
Anyway, hopefully it will go to someone else who can use it, i still think its a great prize for the right person!

Absolutely! It's just a terrible shame that you won't be able to use the prize personally:( how disappointing.
Sometimes companies are flexible with their T&C's so it's always worth asking if you could possibly transfer the prize to someone else.
Hope you win something else really soon which includes flights and spending money :beer: .
