Know any good london hotels?

I am staying in London just for one night with my fiancee and going to see a show but i just cant decide on a hotel.
i would like something a bit special as we have a two year old and dont get to do this often and there are loads of good deals around on 4 and 5 star hotels but even with these hotels i think you can be quite dissapointed so was wondering if anyone had any tips for somewhere that wouldnt dissapoint.

Have you considered Malmaison? Its a chain but they have a lovely hotel in Farringdon, its been there about 2 years now and its just outside the city so easy enough to get around on circle line. Generally they have cheaper rates at the weekend as it is really a city hotel, rather than tourist, lovely bar and really nice restuarant. But if you do go there, then pm me and I can point you to all types of fab places around there. I live and work in Farringdon so know all about the local area!

    This is the hotel website:

For something special, I could recommend the The Royal Horseguards .

It is set in a splendid Grade I listed Victorian building facing the River Thames. The hotel is 300 meters from Trafalgar Square and 400 meters from the Houses of Parliament. All rooms are furnished in English country house style (I have stayed there quite a lot, never in a room with the same decor!), with rich fabrics, dark wood antique-style furniture, ornaments and chintzy soft furnishings. The rooms are also quiet because the hotel is sort of in a quiet backwater. For extra quiet rooms, ask for one that doesn't face the Thames - but it is lovely to wake up in the morning with a view over the Thames!

    Another idea: Marriott County Hall.

I don't find it as cosy at the Royal Horseguards, but it also has a lot of character, and it's directly on the Thames. Some rooms have a view over the Millenium Wheel, and the whole of the City. They make you feel like royalty when you arrive (but of course, that's what you are paying for!)

have a few, including a 'blind' system where they tell you the location but not the name of the hotel, but you can work it out from the standard pictures and the names on other websites

There is a Crowne Plaza near Blackfriars bridge that does specials at the weekends.

Also consider the Melia Regents park https://www.solmelia.co.uk

Thistle tower bridge, cheaper on lastminute.com

Radisson Edwardian are good, cheaper on lastminute.com

Hunt around a bit and get a feel for what is available/possible.

Man, it's just awesome. Not cheap though - to stay tonight will cost you either £900 or £1950... for a single night.

    Ouch.

They have numbers for "entertainment" at the conceirge... so I've heard.
  • I dream of staying at the Lanesborough , maybe one day if i win the lottery :j

I would reccommend Halkin and Hempel hotels. They are very chic 5* contemporary hotels.

Took the girlfriend for her b'day and she loved it.

    Hope this helps.

When I need to stay in London I stay at the Regent Palace Hotel which is on Piccadilly Circus. You can choose from an ensuite room or a room without and ensuite. The rooms with ensuite are about £70 for the night and the rooms without ensuite start at around £35 per night. There are several bathrooms on each corridor to use. The breakfast there is really nice. It's also really central so it saves a bit on travel.

Book it over the phone direct with the hotel (don't book online or with an agent) and you will get the cheapest deals.
