I have a very fussy eater for a boyfriend. He will eat and eat non stop of the things he likes but he won't eat meat which needs a bit of chewing. He will eat things like mincemeat, sausage and burgers but wouldnt eat a pork chop or chicken or any meat off the bone. Now I just dish up what I like and he eats just the vegetables from the meal and not the meat.

I think you need to do the same with your husband. Do it the same as you would with children and say if you don't eat that your not having anything. He will soon eat it when he gets hungry.

Thanks all. He did actually eat the polynesian pork and his comment was "it's OK", then again he couldn't very well come out with "it's nice" after making such a fuss earlier :rotfl:

JMM - I am going to try cooking things for slightly less time to see if it makes any difference.

I've tried the "like it or lump it" approach in the past, but his answer is then to go out for a takeaway, which makes me mad because we're trying to cut back.

    Thanks again everyone.

He cooks something with chips! Not really much good for me because I'm trying to shed the last few pounds of my post-baby weight. The other thing he can cook is chicken fajitas.

On the "treat them like a child" approach - my DD's have a Thursday night to come up with a suggestion for the following weeks meals. On Friday I do the butchers and the veg shops and if they haven't picked they get what I want. Suprisingly they appreciate like it or not Sunday is a roast dinner and that they may like burgers but daddy prefers steak! They pick, I cook, they eat! And Daddy isn't much different! Sorry but if he isn't happy with what you cook it's time for him to don the apron!

PS he cooks chips - you do the same as he does! moan, groan, grumble and then go all superior and cook yourself some rice!
  • If I were you , then he'd have been severely slapped by now!! ;)

I'd cook my own tea and then when he asks where he is - tell him; "You wouldn't like what I've cooked so you can do your own!!"

Either that or do as the others have suggested and blatantly lie - LOL :D

I've had this problem as well, with my OH and one of my siblings. They both hate the "stewed taste" especially with chicken. So Sunday roast is usually finished in a very hot oven to crisp the chicken up nicely. They don't mind the soups or casseroles though.

  • I was browsing one of those little pocket gift books you get "how to deal with men". One of the scenarios was "chilli powder will be the basis of all meals he cooks".

Last night Paul offered to do dinner. Him: "what were you planning?" Me: "we've got aubergines and courgettes to use up so I thought ratatouille and there's some cod fillets I was going to steam to go with them".

Him: "I think I'll do a chilli" Did make me laugh :D

Another thing you could do is cook chips every day until he's so fed up with them that he will want a proper meal.
