Silly rabbit....I think I went for the wrong account...

I live in N.I. I decided to open up a Lloyds student account, came with credit card, free NUS card etc so I just decided on that one. I had to decide for the beginning of the summer, cus I was going over to England where I could open up an account (can't do it online with my address, annoyingly). So went for Lloyds.

Now I've read your guide, and a few others, and think I'd actually quite like the NatWest account..with the railcard? I want to open up a second account cus I thought it was a good idea to have two accounts - one for my loans etc. to go into (Lloyds) that will pay for uni things ONLY and one for getting a wee job and other money saving (NatWest) which will pay for other things...
However upon reading your guide, I notice that in the Lloyds contract you can't open up another account.
Is this true?? If so, what do I do? Can I just open up a NatWest account online anyway?
*Imagines the worst scenario for not keeping with the terms of the contract*

eeeeep

Yeh you can do if you want. Or you could close down your Lloyds one and just have the Natwest one.
  • You could close the Lloyds account, although make sure you do it in good time so you can let the SLC know, otherwise they'll pay in to the wrong account.

Or you could get a normal current account? It won't come with all the freebies but if you are wanting two accounts it might be useful for you.

If the bank specifies you are only allowed one student account and they find out you have two then they can make you repay the overdraft and possibly even close your account.
