how do I find where my refund went,I didnt get it.

I made an online order for £261.99 on 21 july and cancelled same day as they e-mailed asking for extra money to send to my out of the way address in central belt scotland.I have the order cancellation e-mail dated 22 july.
They said they would refund straight away.
I then placed another order with the same company through their ebay shop as it was cheaper than their online web site,I got more stuff and the total was £407.00.Got my order, stuff is gorgeous.
But a couple of days later they still hadnt refunded the original £261.99 so I contacted them again. They e-mailed me a World pay transaction number as proof of the refund showing it refunded on 22 july.
The refund still didnt appear on my card so I raised an enquiry with my cc who awarded a temporary credit of £261.99.They contacted the retailer who was apparantly able to show them it was an authorised transaction(I did place 2 orders and cancelled 1 so they may have showed evidence of the ebay sale as proof) and it has come off my card again so I have paid £261.99 for nothing and that refund still has not appeared.
What can I do?Can I contact world pay?Any advice please?

  • Your complaint is with the retailer not World Pay.
If they won't refund you it is up to them to find out where your money has got to. There should be an electronic trail.

If you get no joy - go back to your card provider and chargeback it again.
  • The retailer says they have refunded but I am not convinced that the e-mail they sent me showing the refund details via worldpay was genuine.Does anyone know if the worldpay CARD transaction confirmation e-mail and the worldpay CARD refund e-mail follow the same format or differ, should the transaction numbers be identical for both as mine are?
I use paypal lots and their transaction numbers are different for the sale and refund as it is a different transaction, but I would like advice from anyone who uses worldpay and knows how they do it please.

  • I can't help you with Worldpay - but the retailer should be able to confirm from its records a card number the refund was processed to - this should confirm whether it is your card or somebody else's.
