Help with Indesit Washing Machine Repair

Hi,
Are there any appliance boffins out there who can give me advice on the following problem. My Indesit WG1234t Washing machine was making loud cluncking noises when on the spin cycle, turned it off and Lifted up the drum and found alot of play so thought it was the bearing.Removed spider and looked at bearings and all looked ok.I then decided to replace the spider and check again where the play is and it seems to be that the drum itself is loose on the shaft. Is it possible to fix this as I can't see any way to part shaft from the drum. I've since replaced the bearing just in case these were causing the problem but as suspected hasn't made any differance. If as I suspect this coupling is to blame I assume the whole drum assembly has to be removed from machine to get to inspect the coupling between the drum and shaft.Any help appreciated.
Steve.

i had a similar probloem with a hotpoint w/m years ago, and eventually gave up, the bearing goes, but seperating the spider from the drum is near impossible due to corrosion. I ended up putting the spider (new) in the garage to collect cobwebs and gave some store a pile of cash for a new machine.0 -

You will have to remove the drum from the outer drum tub either by unscrewing the two halves of a plastic outer drum or removing the seal and front from a metal one. It is a fairly big job and the drum tub may need lifting out of the top of machine.
A new drum assembly might be needed depending on how the shaft spider is attached to the drum, if not available separately or if the drum is damaged.
I would check the price and availability of the spider and the complete drum assembly first.
Some pictures of various drum spiders on google :

Try asking on http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=34
as the engineers there should be able to give you a better answer.0 -
Thanks TimBuckTeeth....Might give it a try as I've nothing to loose apart from the time.I've tried a couple of other forums but no suggestions yet.0

The belt hasn't stretched has it? If it has then it's a simple job to replace (cable tie belt to drum, hook over drive shaft, twist drum by hand - job's a good'un). This happened to our Tricity Bendix but the belt had like a fabric backing which frayed and then got tangled up on the drive shaft causing the belt to be deformed and stretch - once stretched there was a fair bit of movement on the drum and would cut the spin cycle short after a second or two.
