When do I start paying back my student loan?

The rate changes each year, last year it was 4.8%, this year it's 3.8%, the year before was 2.4%.
Once you start working it should be shown on your paycheck as coming off. If it's not make sure you get in touch with your employer and get it checked out.
A CDL is a bank loan (given by RBS, Barclays and another bank I can't remember), but the government hold off on the interest until you've graduated. One you have graduated you need to start making repayments, no matter what your income is. There is lots of information on this site as well as elsewhere.0
