Can I plug Feeview into portable DVD player

For her birthday dear daughter had a portable dvd player. However for Christmas she would like a TV too. As her bedroom isn't the biggest in the world I have considered buying a free veiw box and using this as an input to the DVD player.
Sounds good in theory? Will it work in practice?
The player is a Medion and has a video in (yellow) socket and a AV in/out switch and a Audio (optical out) socket.

Most of the cheap Freeview boxes have a single Scart socket to conect to the TV via a standard Scart lead which may or not be supplied with it.

If you were to buy a Freeview box which contains an RF modulator (not RF pass through - they all have this) you could then connect the RF output from the Freeview box to the TV set via a co-ax lead. This would allow either the DVD or the Freeview box to be watched on the TV. :T
If the TV had two Scart sockets, both the Freview box and the DVD player could be connected to the TV (I'm assuming that you don't or won't have two Scart sockets). Alternatively the Scart leads from both the Freeview box and DVD player could be connected to a Scart selector box, which then connects to the TV.
I would forget the idea of connecting to the input of the DVD player, this is most probably so that a digital camera etc. could be connected.

That's for composite video in. If you've got a VCR with SCART output you can buy cheapo Scart kit to test it.
I assume its got the 2 other phono sockets controlled by the AV in/out switch0 -
The yellow input socket would carry video information only. If there are no visible means of getting sound into the dvd player then I would say no, it can't be used with a freeview box. Are there any obvious audio inputs? Could be 2 x phonos (like yellow video socket but coloured red and white) or could be a mini jack (like a walkman headphone socket). It might be labelled something like 'stereo audio in' or 'line in'."...IT'S FRUITY!"0

bit impossible, from what the OP is saying her daughter doesn't have a tv, just a portable DVD player with built in screen.0 -
Good idea with the video. I have a mish-mash of cables around the house so I guess I can cobble some thing up and test the theory. Then take the lot to currys or where ever. Cheers.0
