Best sites for UK Hotels/Guest Houses

I'm planning some weekends away, for next year, in cities around the UK.
The problem I'm having is finding decent sites to find places to stay either hotels/Guest Houses or B&B.
I would like sites that are clear, have tariff's and quote places that are actually in the cities themselves, mainly because we'll be using cheap flights or train.
Can anyone recommend any easy-to-use sites with good reliable information?
TIA
Jill

Hi new to site so hope you don't mind me posting !
May I suggest going through local search pages for the areas you wish to visit ?, it's an excellent way to find the B and B's that invariable don't want a deposit and are small and friendly.0 -

www.bedandbreakfastnationwide.com is a fantastic website. It has some "select" B&Bs on, but you can't search using price as a criteria. They're not too pricey though.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 #18 £2021.83 declared0

I have used a lot of the sites referred and ended up with information overload.
But my requirement for myself and partner changed when we bought a Harley Davidson to look for Biker friendly places and I found this web site very helpful
http://www.friendly-places.com/
which allows extra selection criteria, and gave me places to enquire
also biker site
http://www.bikersadvice.co.uk/travel/accommodation.php
which we've found a place with vacancies and booked a weekend away and the end of that month.
