strim or blitz first?

Im not a fan of chemicals seeing as I eat what I grow, but thats a personal choice, and I appreciate that there is little evidence that much ends up in the end product.
Anyway, my choice would be: strim, possibly rotavate, manure, posibly rotavate at this point, cover with carpet (free from freecycle!) leave for few months. OR spend the time with a fork & work through it slowly weeding, manure then cover. I always cover with carpet over winter anyway to keep the weeds at bay, and manure can be obtained free fairly easily.0
