Building Regulations - Internal Door Measurements

Hi, I hope someone can help.
We are planning to do some renovation work on a house we are in the process of buying.
We would like to know the minimum Internal Door width in accordance with Building regulations. Standard doors are 780mm, but I'm sure that now you need a 900mm door opening (one wide enough for a wheel chair)
Many thanks in advance,
Tom

See Part M of the building regs which you can download via the planning portal here: http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/uploads/br/BR_PDF_ADM_2004.pdf
Page 66 says that external entrance doors should have a minimum clear opening width of 775 mm. Page 67 table 4 and diagram 28 gives the minimum width for doorways depending on corridor widths.
If all you will be doing is replacing existing doors i don't think you need to worry about building regs at all ..i think it's only really if your putting in new doorways or building an extension or building a new house that you should worry - or of course if someone living in the house will be using a wheelchair.
Standard door sizes are usually around 30inch in existing houses..but often 27 inch for bathroom doors (which is what it is in our mid 1950s house)
Hope that helps and good luck with the house purchase!

Ditto. If you are renevating then there is no need to comply with the regs in this instance. If you were converting a house for the disabled then that might be required. To give you an example, we redid our kitchen extension, and the regs give height requirements for switches however to keep in with the rest of the house I wanted them above the maximum, the BCO said it didn't matter as we weren't building a completely new extension, merely altering an existing one....0

The choice is yours 780 or 900. If you decide to go for wider doors then remember that the existing lintel will not be long enough and will require a new one over each opening in a solid wall.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
