compaq presario C792EA - comments please?

can you let me know your thoughts on this laptop?

i literally just use it for the internet - no gaming, film or music downloads.

i also am not planning on using it on the go either.

I have a compaq pressario v6133. Happy with it apart from the battery life. Lasts about an hour. My laptop is now over a year old. However there has been problems with the wireless function with compaq laptops. Something to do with overheating motherboard which can damage the wireless circuitery. This caused you to lose wireless connection. I normally use a cable connect for internet connection. Received an email highlighting this problem. When i activated the wireless feature i found it did not work. Compaq had extended the warranty to cover the models affected. Send mine in and had a new motherboard fitted for free. So far it is working perfectly. Will check to see if your model is affected.

Got a 542EA. Had it for nearly 2 years. Used as main computer now and have worn through the colouring on the touchpad - lol. It has never failed me. It's even on the same installation of Vista it came with - haven't had to reinstall Vista at all. Battery life is poor now though so it needs a new one but as I said, it's 2 years old.
Only thing is that when you get it, it comes laden with all kinds of pre-installed rubbish so needs a cleanout.
