Problem with Outlook

Help....I have been rather stupid and need some help
My laptop was running slow and I thought i might have a virus and downloaded Norton from the BT website...forgetting I already had AVG installed. I then lost all sound and my emails that were delivered from a web based account into outlook stopped coming in...although I could send them okay. The web based account is with Easyspace no BT. I called BT tech help desk and explained the above...the operator took over my desktop remotely and tried to fix it..2 hours on the phone!! Up shot is they removed all the settings and downloaded yahoo software and now i don't have emails in or out of outlook and because the settings have all been removed the operator got confused and admitted they had not kept a note of the details and could not therefore get me back to where we started from...Ihe now thinks he should have left everything as is but disabled the email scanner.

Can anyone advise me how to get back the lost information and set my outlook back up without losing all the exisitng email files on outlook as i need them

many thanks

  • first impressions is that you need to collect information on the settings Easyspace use for Outlook. These will be

    Username
    Password
smtp server address (would be something like smtp.easyspace.net, thats an example btw)
pop server address (would be something like pop.easyspace.net, thats an example btw)

then create a new account through outlook going tools>accounts and fill in the details and dont forget to authenticate your outgoing mail so it uses the same username/password as your incoming.

    Hope that helps for now.

  • Thank you...I will give it a go and see how I get on
  • But if your BB connection is with BT, then you'll need to configure the outgoing mail server as

    mail.btinternet.com
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
