Where are the usual suspects I wonder? Since the Lehmans announcement I expected to see comments like:
It's just a blip.
Green Shoots.
Light at the end of the Credit Crunch tunnel.
Mortgage rates at 4.99%.
Things will be back to normal by 2009.
You've missed the 'housing' boat.
Things are ok at the docks.
My BTL Mondeo hasn't been affected.
A home isn't an home; it's an investment.
Things can only get better.
Crisis? What crisis?.
Well Farmer Piles next door to me has sold his land to new build developers.
This can't go on forever. You'll see. House prices will be triple what they are now in spring 2009.
Where are they all? One thing is for sure though: IT IS different this time!
A question for you and all the other idiots on this board who rejoice in the house prices crash and implicitly the crash of the whole UK economy. Once you bought a property, would you still wish for prices to drop? Would you still wish for your hard earned 10% deposit that people on here hail as holy grail, to vanish away in 2 weeks only to find yourself in negative equity?0 -

Oh look...they're back. Didn't last too long did it?
Looks like you're the 'idiot' that had your deposit vanish away in 2 weeks then?
Mine's still earning interest dipsh1t!0 -

I for one am in shock...I kid you not it took me all my time this morning not to rush out to the supermarket and buy enough tinned food and dried potato to last a couple of years...It can't just be me who feels like this..can it ???.

Blessed are the cracked...for they are the ones who let in the light. A x0 -

We have been over this in another thread, the answer is yes i would still want the market to go down, HPI helps no one. If you dont believe me take a look around.
Do you have children?, do you want them to be able to afford a house without working 25 hours a day ?0 -

You're right, if I had just bought a house and I had seen my deposit dissapear I would not be wishing for prices to drop.
I would however, be a complete idiot.0 -
Besides some gloating and general smugness, is there actually a point to this thread?0

i'll ask the question without the insult then...

I answered the question chucky, just to add I wouldnt buy at this time as its obvious which way prices are going, however if I HAD to buy because of a personal situation then thats ok, I don't see my house as a cash cow or something that I can brag about its worth.
I see it has a home that I have to pay for over a long period of time, if I lost money with my eyes open then so be it, I wouldn't be coming onto a forum to cry about it.0 -

I agree... this is probably an 'I told you so' thread, but I dare say its justified in view of the fact that the argument is a compelling one, and while I think some of the comments expressed about DD were OTT, on the whole, this thread, while hardly value adding, deserves to be humoured IMHO.
Rest assured that if in a week's time, there is some major positive development in the housing market, we will have a similar thread from the bull regiment. It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0
