wow! It's too quiet in here today!!!

Where are the usual suspects I wonder? Since the Lehmans announcement I expected to see comments like:

It's just a blip.
Green Shoots.
Light at the end of the Credit Crunch tunnel.
Mortgage rates at 4.99%.
Things will be back to normal by 2009.
You've missed the 'housing' boat.
Things are ok at the docks.
My BTL Mondeo hasn't been affected.
A home isn't an home; it's an investment.
Things can only get better.
Crisis? What crisis?.
Well Farmer Piles next door to me has sold his land to new build developers.
This can't go on forever. You'll see. House prices will be triple what they are now in spring 2009.

Where are they all? One thing is for sure though: IT IS different this time!

After today, I dont think anyone can talk up the market. You can't polish a turd.. Give 'em a few days. I'm sure they will be back, or perhaps they are going through the painful transformation of "bull" into "bear"

Yep, I suspect the return will be in the form of a link to some bullsh*t Daily Express article. :)

They'll be back, probably say something like "well, 99.99% of the world banks are still there, so this is just a minor blip".
    Happy chappy

I think there are a lot of people feeling very downbeat about it all .

    I certainly am .

I like falling house prices to a degree, and am pleased that lending has been restricted.

However, this is a totally new kettle of fish and many people like me around the site literally dont know what to do.

Its fine ( in my world anyway) when Im adding to my cash pot and earning on it, and generally feeling quite smug, another thing entirley when other banks ar elooking shaky, my ISA value is plummeting and wondering what to do for the best.

Its not such a good laugh is it ;)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I hear what you are saying, and agree that it is worrying.

    BUT.

Having put up with the nonsense of the bulls, in here and more importantly everywhere else - and having seen million pound bonuses paid to stupid kids who have gambled recklessly with all our futures, and blown it big time - well I am for once prepared to put my charitable side on hold and laugh - a big happy belly laugh - as those who arguably have it coming - get some.

My friend in the states announced 2 hours ago that he has just had full confirmation that he will be allowed to borrow 100% mortgage on his first house at 5x his salary (even though he only started earning that since last month after he got a 50% payrise). He's not got a clean credit history either. His rate quoted is 7.125%

So, over the pond, they're still all at it!

I think I understand. We are all going to get some. But they will get theirs first. So let me have a brief laugh now.

These banks created the new way of parcelling stuff up, and selling it on, to be sold on again, and sliced and diced, until no one really understood. They took their profits and bonuses and I am sure did not pause for one moment to wonder how the poor and gullible would cope with the increasing debt gamble they had bought into.

So for once the guilty party gets some. Doesn't happen very often. Let's rejoice. In a compassionate way of course.

Oh, one more thing, now they will struggle to buy a sandwich at midday. Remember - lunch is for wimps.
