Credit card and no credit history

Which is the best cashback credit card for someone who has no credit history. i.e never had an overdraft, mortgage or personal loan. The on outstanding debt I have is a student loan

    you need to get any CC, use it regularly and pay in full each month to build up a good credit histroy.
    Try your own bank first or one of the beginners cards.. barclaycard initial, cap 1, vanquis.. awful APRs but that won't matter if you pay in full each month

    I'd start with a 'beginners' card before having thoughts about cashback cards.
    It is highly unlikely that any company would entertain an application for a cashback card from someone with no history.

    Are there any of these beginner cards that offer any great benefits if they are used for online purchases

    All cards offer section 75 protection... i.e. they are jointly responsible with the retailer for the provision of the goods... useful if you paid for your XL holiday with a CC.

    Otherwise probably not; the point is to build up your credit rating so in 6 months or so your can apply for a card with other benefits.
