can someone help a mudled brain please

a few months ago, before all the rises, eon came knocking at my door and i signed up to their price protect oct 09. they started taking payments in july. they have just been to read the meter so i should get my first bill soon.

british gas keep phoning me to ask me to switch back to them with fixed price to 2011. however i had arguments with them before due to them not billing me for 18mths then hitting me with a major bill, requiring me to pay back 100quid a month for quite a while so i am reluctant to go back to them.

today i heard that some companies have special tariffs for people on benefits, eon say i am on their best tarif and not to switch.

u-switch says bg click 5 is cheaper but when i compare that tariff to the eon one i am on u-switch are wrong, there is a diff of points of a pence in first charges but subsequent charges are cheaper on eons.

how do i find out what the tariffs are for people on benefits to compare them with mine and see if i should switch. i am having trouble even finding out what they are called nm the costs.

thanks for any help. and thanks if you managed to read all that.

BG do a tariff called essentials for people on low income/benefits and it won't increase until next April. You have to contact BG for details. Look at the thread on that tariff.

However BG Click 5 is cheaper at present because it has not yet increased, although a rise is expected soon.
  • Eon do not currently have a specific social tariff
