Hi,
I need some help please! I'm looking to buy a entry level home cinema system for under £200. Where do I start?
I would like to have 5.1 surround sound / dolby digital (if poss) whilst watching TV (freeview) & DVD's...
I currently have a sony VXT-D800u freeview box which has an optical out.
What do I need in order for me to acheive what i'd like. I'm a Sony fan so would prefer to stick to them, but am open to other suggestions!
Can you help with, equipment, cables etc???
Much appreciated!

if you already have a dvd player you might be better off buying an amp and a 5.1 speaker system seperately. that's how i've got mine wired.0

The JVC TH-S55 has had good reviews.0

looks good. Stupid question. How would this connect to my existing setup? I've a fairly new widescreen with various connections, or the freeview or dvd?A fine is a tax for doing wrong. A tax is a fine for doing well.

You're best bet is a seperate AV receiver and 5.1 speaker package. The AV receiver needs to have an optical digital input for the sound from your digi box so that your TV sound is routed through it. A simple way to do this is through a one box system like the Denon 500
I've listened to this in a store set up and it was very impressive - gets very good write ups as well.0 -
Thanks, I love denon stuff but its over £400!!A fine is a tax for doing wrong. A tax is a fine for doing well.

You only need a receiver if you want an in-built radio otherwise an amplifier only.
Take a trip down to Richer Sounds and see what they've got to fit your budget.
What about this from Argos. AFAICS it doesn't support DTS just Dolby Digital. They've a few more to fit your budget.0 -
