Conveyancing Q - can I ring my buyers solicitor myself?

We are in the process of selling our house. Our conveyancer is Countrywide; our buyer's is based in Leeds. We have returned the contract signed and Countrywide tell us that they have answered her solicitors questions.
I asked Countrywide to chase them today to confirm that we can exchange contracts soon but they haven't called me back yet.
What I would like to know is am I allowed to call her solicitors myself to put a match under them or is this illegal/bad form?

Are you selling through an estate agent. If so, I'd call them and get them to do it as it's their job to earn their money by running round to ensure the sale progresses.
If you're selling privately, I can't see a problem in calling their solicitor but first you might like to get on to yours to see if they will chase it.0 -
thanks MT but am I being thick?
We are going through an Estate agents but I thought at this stage, it's the conveyancers/solicitors who talk to each other and the Estate Agents sit there waiting for their cut.0 -

Yes, thats all they do. But they also realise that if the sale doesn't progress then they don't get paid so they want to get it moving as much as you do.
Give them a ring. They're best placed to chase people up.0 -
Your buyer's solicitor won't talk to you . It would be against normal solicitor etiquette to do so. End of.0

Unless you are doing the conveyancing yourself, the other side's solicitor is not going to talk to you, although they may take a call from your agent. [Aside: when people say what do agents do for their money, agents like to mention this as one of the areas they can deal with.]thanks MT but am I being thick?

Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?0
