Hi,
I'm fairly new to the idea of investing in stocks and shares but I'm really keen to learn more....so can anyone recommend a good book(s). I'm also interested in spread betting.
Thanks,
Matt

Hi - I recently read 2 books as im also interested in learning more about the stock market. This dummies guide is a very good book for learning the basics:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Investing-Shares-Dummies-Isabelle-Kassam/dp/0470516453
I also read the motley fool uk investment guide, bit old now but another excellent book id definately reccomend reading
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Motley-Fool-UK-Investment-Guide/dp/0752265393/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221492192&sr=1-1

In the current economic circumstances you might also consider reading this book as well:

If you're interested in spread betting then I would recommend Bets and the City: Sally Nicoll's Spread Betting Diary.
You won't learn how to trade from the book but it gives you an insight into the challenges facing a novice trader and also teaches some very important lessons.
Good luck,
