Help!! laptop infected with Spyware and trogan viruses

 last night i switched on my work laptop, that i have borrowed for my course, and there was a message saying i was infected with spyware. downloaded netdoctor, and it picked up nearly 300 viruses:eek:

but wouldn't remove without paying for the subscription, am skint!!!

i rememeber, when i first uploaded O2 broadband i had to turn off / reduce F-Secure security in the admin login that IT use. If i turn this back on will it get rid of the beasties????

apologies i am really not very technical and any help is appreciated.

Download, install and run Malwarebytes Anti Malware. It's free. Run the Quick Scan and at the end Remove Selected.
  • many thanks, will do tonight xxxx

As far as I know NetDoctor is not a legitimate application, so it's likely that you have installed a rogue application.

Hopefully MAM will take care of it. ;)

  • Will do thanks x
  • the scan is running. are u sure it will remove viruses without me having to pay?? said it was $30 on first screen?? x
  • feel like a right numpty now. i also down loaded stopzilla, which was as equally useless....i hope this does the trick....i will then switch F-secure back on!!
  • Hi everyone...thanks for the great advice it worked! i checked and when i was uploading o2 broadband i turned off my firewall and didn't turn it back on (d'oh!!) but all seems to be kosher now. thanks!!!!! xxx
  • Im having the EXACT same problem as dotstar24.. lots of pop ups saying im infected with spyware, trojans etc etc so i tried to download the malwarebytes anti malware but i cant get any further than google.. the toolbar at the top of the page is saying its blocked and then the 'this page cannot be displayed' message pops up.

I am definitely connected to the internet through wireless so thats not the problem, any ideas how i can run this software and fix my laptop? Im about as technical as jesus so any help is much appreciated :)
  • Dont feel liek that, youre not the ifrst and certainly wont be the last . The peddlers of anti-virus software have conducted the biggest fraud in popular culture for many years- that computers are under imminent catastrophic threat of infection if you so much as turn it on without protection.
Viruses are very hard to catch-near impossible- if you use common sense. I havent had antivirus software for years on several PCs- NO INFECTIONS WHATSOEVER. Dont believe the marketing like so many do around here

Whatever you do dont listen to any advice like this, Anti Virus Software is an important application that you should NOT be doing without.

    AntiVirus
    Antispyware
    AntiMalware

Three of the most important applications for anyone with a net connection. The debate is not wether you should have these applciations but Which are the BEST.

If in doubt about TorrestheGreats advice click his name and look at other posts of theirs. Its neither constructive or fit for purpose.
