    I am now in the same situation after deciding not to buy a new build on a 75/25% scheme. Was going to start a thread with the similar theme but found this one.
    We have found a two bed flat in a nice area. There were two one-bed flats in the same complex which went very quickly when they came on the market, the were advertised at £550 and £575. The two bed is advertised at £600 but when the letting agent sowed us round yesturday he said they may accept lower. When I askd what would be sensible he didnt really say much, other than it could be negotiated. What do people suggest I offer?

    I'm surprised he told you they may accept lower, aren't they supposed to make it sound like a bargain? I would do what SouthCoast suggested and see how long it has been on the market for. If it hasn't been on for long, they probably won't accept much lower. If it has been on for a while they may accept 575 or maybe even lower.
  • You can negotiaite on rent, yes. For example, if you propose a longer AST, some landlords may well be happier with a longer tenancy at a lower rent than having to re-advertise and pay LA fees, etc.
