Don't upgrade Zone Alarm to v8.xx yet!

I was just about to upgrade but checked first, and version 8 has major problems which Zonelabs are working on, see here:

    Thanks for the note. I'm going to wait as long as it takes for them to get it working before attempting to install.
    Even when it becomes available to automatic update I will still wait to see if there any problems reported.

    I have noticed that when I close down firefox,then quickly reopen it again.
    A window pops up aying firefox still running.
    I did not realise it was zonealarm

  • For the last 3 weeks my internet speed has gone down from 6.1 meg to 222 kbps.
    I rung sky they couldnt find any problem.
    Then I uninstalled zonealarm 8, put it back to 7.1 version,and now my internet speed is back up too 6 meg

    if you have a wireless router with a firewall (most have one) then you dont really need ZA anymore.
    ZA can & does, cause all sorts of problems.
    Get some gorm.

    I don't know any router which doesn't have a built-in 'hardware firewall'!

    But hardware firewalls and software firewalls do (somewhat) different things, and the accepted wisdom is that having both is a good idea. Which software firewall you choose is a different question...
