M$ have warned that if you have downloaded the previous IE8 beta and then installed SP3 and then updated to the latest IE 8 beta, you won't be able to uninstall either SP3 or IE8 without reformatting your hard drive.

Microsoft tells you that when you try to install the latest version and gives you an option to continue or cancel.
The solution is to uninstall the current version of IE8 then install the new version which is probably the safest thing to do in all circumstances0
