But you could just as easily buy a SATA drive caddy and get a poor quality hard drive and still have it fail on you.
I'm not sure about the whole buying cheap is risky, how do you not know that other companies may artificially inflate their prices to appear to be better quality.
I've had top quality hard drives fail on me in the past, so anything can fail really. Just don't put everything that's irreplaceable on one drive, I back up important stuff to DVDs, can't wait for blu ray writers to become more affordable, the leap from dual layer DVD burners to 30gb+ disks will be brilliant.

Not a bad price if that's what you want, but personally, if you just want it for backup rather than portable data storage, I would recommend getting a USB SATA drive dock and one or more SATA drives.

Cycle a couple of those round for backup and bung them somewhere secure - a terrabyte of storage for £130.
It's also an ideal method for storing AVIs etc that you don't need on your PC all the time, saves a packet on electricty too!
