Discounts on pre-booked train to Cardiff?

I am not 16-25. I know I will need to travel to Cardiff on 7th October and return 9th October. How can I get any discounts? Not sure cos Martin's article on train travel is not really clear for my case.

Also are rail cards issued for postgrad students, even if part time?
Thanks

You have to be a full time student to get a railcard if you are over 25

The best way to get discounts is to buy 'advance' tickets, either online or at a station. They commit you to particular trains and are sold as singles each way.
  • thanks so much. that really helped. i found really cheap single tickets which i am booking now
