is it an optical mouse. It might have some fluff caught in the light sensor, you can remove it with a small paintbrush if so.0

... or a wireless mouse with flat batteries?0

Or a ball mouse with layers of gunk on it!
Sounds more like a laser mouse with some fluff on it though, based on your description.0 -
I would go for the mouse ball full of gunk, my was, cleaned it out, and go a new mouse mat,all is fine nowBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100/100miles

Trackpads are sensitive to lots of things. Too much oil, too little oil, too dry, too wet, clean, dirty, too warm - they can have disagreements with your fingers for lots of reasons. It is a physical thing - nothing to do with viruses.0

Having quickly browsed through that I'm very glad my occurrence of the problem was solved with just a less-than-barely damp cloth!0
