 Not enough information supplied! Perhaps you simply need to reduce the size or the quality of your pictures, using a program like Irfanview.
jpg files are already compressed, so zipping them would not achieve much!

Yep as mentioned above jpg is a compressed format.
On the note of a zip application, I use TugZip. I switched from using WinRar to it and it's been great. It's also free."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

winrar & winzip are good. However, XP has built in zip support (slower)A fine is a tax for doing wrong. A tax is a fine for doing well.0

You seem to be missing the point here!
What is the point trying to compress files that are already compressed?

True.
Zipping jpeg's will make little or no difference."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

For what it's worth, it maybe worth your while defining exactly what you mean by "upload pictures for emails" as the replies you have received so far seem to have latched onto .jpg's. But if you aren't using this particular image type, the answers so far aren't going to benefit you.
You would be better off explaining what the pictures are ie family photos from a camera? Scanned images? and the files extension ie: the bit at the end of the file ".bmp", ".jpg", ".png" etc etc.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
you're called iwanttosave... more like iwanttoaskquestions
Use WinRAR - http://www.rarlab.com/ - @ $29.95
RAR files are far superior to zips - more secure, reliable, faster and more compressed - i.e. smaller resulting filesizes.
But everyone is right, compressing already highly compressed files such as JPEG or MP3 is not effective - it just serves as a neat way to send lots of files as one.
Alternatively just use Windows XP's built in file compression as mentioned above.0
