Decent Laptop for playing online games etc

Hi

My son keeps borrowing my laptop for playing pc games and internet games - his birthday is coming up, so time for his own laptop.

Just bought him 'Spore' and it recommends at least 2ghz, so I guess this is what I'm looking for along with graphic card, wifi and something along the lines of 'extra clear display'.

At a push I can go up to about £400 but I'd prefer the £300 mark. Can anyone recommend a decent model in these price ranges for the above needs?

Getting a gaming laptop for you budget isn't a realistic option.

To get a good gaming one your need to spend at least double that.

For example this is a good one for surfing the web and basic games but give it any real hard core games and it will struggle.

yup gaming laptops can be quite pricey as they can get quite hot without a good way to cool them down - no chance of a tower PC?


but Asus one is pretty good - same GFX card as above laptop- but there are quite a few different models here aswell

Wow!

I think I'll just get him a normal laptop so that he can surf and maybe I will upgrade our tower. The laptop he plays on now is a dell XPS which I believe is ideal for games (I bought mine second hand) - so I think he will really notice the difference on a lower spec laptop.

Your looking at £800+ for a gaming laptop possibly more for a decent one. You can just about do it for a PC for £400 but no way for a laptop unless it come from a back off a lorry
