Hi I need some help please. I often cook rice with varying degrees of success. Can anyone recommend a rice cooker that is simple to use and gives consistently good results for various types of rice?
I would also appreciate advice on cost and where to buy recommended cooker. Thanks.

I have this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002APCJM/qid=1132489425/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/202-3225545-6142240
I would never have thought it worth buying a rice cooker but it is very useful - the rice comes out consistently good and it's easy to use. We only eat rice once, maybe twice a week so I wouldn't think a dedicated rice cook worthwhile but this is a slow cooker as well so gets used three or four times a week. You can also get rice cookers/steamers.
Mine cost £35 from ebay, they're about £40 now or £50 from Amazon.0 -

I could never do rice and bought a micro wave pot. However last week I went to a cookery demonstration at a local chinese restaurant so thought I would share this with you and it seems to work.
Before you cook rice rinse at least three times, put rice in pan , put your hand in the pan, put water in so when you put your hand on top of the rice, water goes just over the top of your hand (very low tech I know). bring water to the boil, stir it, cover it, turn off the gas, rice ready about 10 minutes.
So try this first it works for me.0 -

I always use my Tupperware rice cooker/drainer thingy. I don't know if they still sell it as I haven't seen a Tupperware catalogue in years, but if not, you may be able to pick one up at a car boot sale.
You just cook the rice about 5 minutes less than normal, pour it in to the container and put on the lid for 5 or 10 minutes. It drains and continues to cook and you get nice dry rice.0 -

Hi I bought a rice cooker from index when they were shutting down as it was so ceap and I cook loads of rice. However I never use it ! You need to make a certain amount and its only me that eats rice . Also It takes 25 mins which is longer than boiling. The worst thing for cooking rice in is the all in one stamers. Great for vegatables - I use it all the time- but rubbish for rice .0

I bought an electric rice cooker in Wilkinsons a few weeks ago for £12.99. (also keeps the rice warm after its cooked) Its really great value. They also had a slow cooker for a similar price.0

I love rice but can't cook it unless it comes in a microwaveable packet (uncle bens 2 mins stuff) but its £1 odd a bag. I live alone and love rice if this would be ok for cooking rice for one it would pay its self back in no time.
Are these easy to use? and is it suitable for making rice for 1?0
