    Gosh this still goes on? A colleague of mine told me when her father died years ago she was aged just 20 and her boss expected her to come in after the funeral (it was being held in the morning).

    my work were really good to me when my dad was ill, i came and went as needed, when he died i took a week off, would have been more they told me i could have taken them but i had a weeks holiday off planned for then anyway so just used that instead
