Credit Card Problem

Hi All,

I have worked out all the charges of £12 my credit card has charged me lately, and it amounts to £148.00. I have demanded for them to refund me this money, but the credit company said they are right to charge me the amount.
I am not complaining about being charged, all I am complaining is how these charges where reached. I agreed with this credit company that my payment should reach them on or before 29th of every month, now, the charges I have got from this credit card, some of the payments where made on 25th, 26th, and 27th of the month. Their argument is that, monies take 4 working days to clear. The current acount I use in paying this credit card is held in the same bank I have this credit card account. Where does this bank keep my money from 25th, 26, and 27th of the month before actually crediting it to my credit card account? Sevaleral times I have withdrawn cash from my account and paid it straight to this credit card account. Can I get my money back from this credit card company?

  • £12 is the amount that credit card companies reduced their charges too, so I can't see you getting anything back unless they have made an error.

The onus is on you to make sure you know your due date and get the money to them on time. If you need slightly more time due to your payday date or something, ask them to move the due date to fit in better with your budget.
  • Hi All,

PS - Never "demand" anything from your bank, ask them nicely and be pleasant to deal with. Don't give them a reason not to help you by being difficult or awkward.

Try writing to them instead and see what happens.

Anything they offer will be as a gesture of goodwill, unless you can prove they have made mistakes that have caused the charges.
