Why was a thread closed?

I have a few posts to my name, but I don't know why some things happen on this site yet? I was enjoying this debate

hi - I closed the thread as I had a request to delete it and at the time I didnt feel it was appropriate to delete as I was unsure of the current site policy regarding entire thread deletion. I am now clear on the situation (MSE forum team state "The original poster can I believe remove the thread themselves as
deleting the original post removes the topic. As they can do this
anyway, if we are requested by the OP, I normally just delete as requested."
and as such I have deleted the thread as requested. hope that helps a little.
