Lost info sent to uninstall old and update new device manager for my new 5.1 speakers - still to get a sound after owning for over 2 weeks!
Please guys - why can't I get a sound from them - have installed new creative sound blaster & drivers - nothing! although old speakers now only work through new green 3.5mm jack.
I run vista - so unsure where to find old drivers - if that's what i need to unintall.

Ok, few questions to clarify as your post is a bit confusing.
Have you installed a new sound card in your PC?
If so have you checked in device manager that it is working correctly and you have the most uptodate drivers?
What make are the speakers? And are they working on the new card or the onboard?
It may be you need to disable the onboard sound to make the sound card function as primary sound output device."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Hi Shadowdragon - answers to yr Q's
I have installed a new soundcard and its drivers - have registered and updated drivers form creative website - have checked in device manager and there was anexclamationmark on one of the drivers - updated download and that is gone nowand it says all working/installed correctly.
My old speakers work in the newly installed soundcard green jack -but when I put all the 3.5mm leads from the back of speakers into the orange/black/green jacks - NOTHING!
Speakers are LandSound 5.1 Home Theatre Surround Speakers - 70W RMS With Wireless Remote, VFD Screen -from ebuyer (hope ok to mention them)
Yr Question - And are they working on the new card or the onboard?-I'm unsure

ok you could try the software from creative labs, you may need to configure the sound card (tell it) what type of speakers you have (sorry not 100% as I have built in monitor speakers not big on my sound), so what im saying is that the card hasnt been set up to support your new speaker system (it may be set to desktop speakers (or built in monitor speakers).
To disable the onboard you can do that in device manager just find the onboard sound and right click and select disable
ho yeah you have turned the volume up on the speakers or made sure there switched on (i know sounds silly but you would be suprised!!! how many forget things like that)."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Err, are you actually playing back a 5.1 encoded sound? MP3s aren't. You need to play a DVD with Dolby Digital soundtrack.0
