Options
Ebay have for some reason done something to my Ebay account as when I try to log in, it comes up with your username or password is incorrect, tried the standard email my password etc, dont know whether all the security questions are correct, as several of them have changed over years (been a member since 1999). Email them anyway, I have heard nothing, dont really want to setup from scratch again after all this time and all my feedback), so does anybody no of a contatc number to call to try and speak to someone? they are not very contactable!

Thanks

Can't vouch for any of them, but I'm sure one of them works:

Use the link that fishingcinema gave you as soon as possible. If you can't log in with your existing username, your account may have been hijacked. Live Chat is the quickest way to get it sorted.

I think that you mean 020 8605 3000. The area code for London is 020 - there is no such area code as 0208.

It doesn't matter how a number is written surely, the number is dialled so as long as the digits are identical, as they are in your 'correction' it will get through.

I'd be interested to know what the OP's problem was. Such an 'aged' account would be worth £££££s to a con artist so I hope the account's not been hijacked.

UK telephone numbers are correctly written as an STD code and a local number. If your STD code is the same as that of the number which you are dialling, then you do not need to dial the digits in the STD code. To differentiate the two parts, STD codes are therefore often enclosed in brackets - (020) 8605 3000.

For the example quoted, anybody in the 020 area can dial this number as 86053000, and anybody outside the 020 area needs to dial 0208605300. However, formatting the number as 0208 605 3000 is completely pointless as there is no such local number as 6053000 and ringing this number would not work from anywhere.

  • thanks all, used the online chat, fantastic took a while to sort out as I had to try and remember some of things I had setup on my account which I had not touched in 9 years, it appears someone had hijacked my account, which ebay promptly deactivated and removed some listings they had made.

Account back up and running so thanks to all.
