You lucky lucky people!!! Cork is a real happening place with great friendly people. Hire a car to see the beautiful county . Must visit places include Clonakilty ,beautiful town, great restaurants and pubs , Inchedoney Island where the views just take your breath away, and of course Glengariff in West Cork. Patrick Street in Cork City has all the usual suspects re shopping but look out for the side streets which have some amazing shops selling unique goodies. Have a great time x

I can recommend Fellini's cafe as a good place to stop for lunch... it's just off the main shopping thoroughfare down a small side street. There's also a Mexican place on the same street which we dined at.

Oooh, and up on MacCurtain Street, we also ate at Greene's (reserved in advance though - although I did it online through their website)... website here.

I went two years ago in February for a long weekend - it was cold and very, very quiet. Some of the things to do were closed, and we ended up spending a day in the pub! I learned that I should've taken my driving licence - most of the things we decided that we wanted to do were out of the centre itself.

I forgot to mention - it's customary in Cork to address anyone who has provided you with good service as Langer.
It's derived from a visit of the German golfer Bernhart Langer who came to Cork several years ago to play in the Irish Open at the Fota Island Golf Course in Cork.
Everyone was so taken with his civility and good humour - even when playing a bad shot - that the term Langer slipped into every day usage by the Leesiders here in Cork.
So if you get good service in a restaurant don't forget to say Thank You Langer to the waiter or waitress... and the same withy taxi drivers etc.
    Enjoy your visit.
