removing reducing searches on your credit file

hi im not sure if it is one for the credit card board but dont know where else to post!!

just wondering if there was a way of removing searches from your credit file before the year limit has run its time as it could be a key for me getting a decent rate on a morgage as i was told today thats standing in the way of a 5% dif in rate

AFAIK - only if the search was performed without permission.

ok there are like 3 searches from the same company on the same day but count as 2 searches so does that mean if i contact them they will reduce it to just the one search???

The question is - why are there 3 searches - were 3 searches actually performed?

If the answer to the latter question is yes - I don't see why they'd reduce it - the information is facutally correct.

If the second 'credit search' was made by an underwriter, as opposed to an automatic scoring system search and perhaps because you appealed a decision, they may not remove it. This is because generally you agree to them searching your file (at any time to assess you/manage your account) when you apply/sign up.

However, it is possible in some cases to get duplicate searches removed. Experian offers the following advice...

I would be very suprised if the removal of a search with the same company would reduce your mortgage rate.
