Using Yahoo with wireless laptop

Hi,

Whenever I use my laptop with Yahoo (my email) it seems to have a delay between what I type and it appearing on the screen, it sometimes just misses letters out of words even though I know I pressed the key BUT when I use any another site (ie this one) I have no problems.

Any idea how I can resolve this as I am getting very fed up when trying to send emails.

Fingers crossed someone knows the solution.

if your using vista or xp why don't you use windows mail.....just enter the settings and it will send recieve email from your yahoo account

saves worrying about typing everything out then losing the connection and all what you have written
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right
  • I have no clue but use both a wireless laptop and yahoo daily and don't have this problem...can't see why it would happen are you at the far reach of the wireless range?

as for the windows mail thing how do you get the settings about pop servers (I think that's what they are called) to set it up? i ran screaming when it asked for them as had no clue where to get them or what they were :-0

    All you need HERE.

Actually, I just had a look and it says you need to have Yahhoo Mail Plus (paid for service) to be able to use another client. See HERE for details.

I've been using a yahoo mail account for around 8 years, always used outlook express, never through the yahoo website..

you need, in your mail properties,:

    server name : pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk

    POP3 address: pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk

    SMTP address: smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk

    incoming port : 25

    outgoing port: 110
    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

I get the exact same time lag thing with yahoo. Mind, you I'm connected via my mobile and a bluetooth dongle. Every other site works fine, just yahoo mail. Have gotten used to it.

I've just tried switching back to the classic view on Yahoo mail and it works without missing out any letters so it is obviously connected to the 'new yahoo mail' settings.

I am going to send Yahoo a message as I really don't want to go to go to a new provider as I have 5 different email address connected to it and I don't want to alter them.

Just wondering Dreamline if you are using the classic or new version of Yahoo?

At the moment I'll stay with the classic version although it does seem a bit outdated! But at lest I can type without leaving out words!!!

  • Here is an update.

I have received a reply from Yahoo (very impressed how quickly it came especially as it is Sunday!).

Thanks for writing to Yahoo! UKIE Customer Care.

I understand that you do not see all the letters, or characters, you've
typed in the message compose box in New Beta version of Yahoo! Mail. I
apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.

Our Engineering team is already working on the resolution, and we intend
to have it corrected as soon as possible. The ticket number for this
    issue is ******.

Thank you for your patience while we work to resolve the issue you've
    reported.
