I have spent a good few hours uploading CDs to my new laptop (media player - vista) and then installed I-tunes and transferred the files across...I have a couple of problems that no matter what I try I can't seem to solve can anyone help?
1, Even tho media player has the artwork for the uploaded Cd's I-Tunes can't find them and for some totally freaky reason cant' seem to find them online any suggestions other than downloading artwork for each album and manually copying to each i-tunes album (very time consuming)
2, I-tunes has broken down every track from compilation albums and made each one into its own album....for instance I have 16 albums all called rock classics but each album is by the artist who produced the track (rock classics - Adam ant Rock, classics by Robert Palmer etc etc) so instead of the real number of albums its showing me as having 516! ( I have uploaded 1215 songs) I would dearly love to only have one of each album but can find no way of consolidating the tracks back to being albums has anyone got any suggestions on this.
I really really don't want to have to upload them all again as its taken hours to upload them and also borrowed a few from mates and no longer have them.
Any and all suggestions welcome
Thanks in advance

You need to have an iTunes Store account, and the album needs to have exactly the same name and artist as the one in the iTunes Store.I-tunes has broken down every track from compilation albums and made each one into its own album....for instance I have 16 albums all called rock classics but each album is by the artist who produced the track (rock classics - Adam ant Rock, classics by Robert Palmer etc etc) so instead of the real number of albums its showing me as having 516! Select the tracks you want to group together, right click on them, select get info, and go to the sorting tab. Enter the name of whatever artist you want to group them as in the sort artist box.0 -

This happened to me too, I found the answer somewhere on the iTunes help pages. It is something to do with album/track names and I had to edit them all until they matched. If I manage to find the link again, I'll post it.Marsh Samphire0

Try this:
"Compilation Albums
To see all the songs on a compilation CD grouped together in your library, make sure "Group compilations when browsing" is selected in iTunes > Preferences (Windows — Edit > Preferences). In Mac OS X, you can open Preferences from the iTunes menu, or in Windows, choose Preferences from the Edit menu. If this checkbox is deselected, artists from compilation CDs appear individually in the Artist list in Browse view."Marsh Samphire0 -

Compilation Albums:
1) Go to Preferences Advanced -Tick the "Keep My Itunes folder organised"
so itunes is in charge of where the songs are.
2) Also in Preferences Advanced - Tick "Copy files to itunes folder when adding"
so itunes all your music files in one place.
3) Select all the songs in a particular album, right click and "get Info"
This should give you a window "Multiple Item Information"
Bottom Left corner is a Box titled "Compilation" -which is a question. Choose Yes.
Also Make Sure the "Album" Title is the present, if's its not type it in. ( eg Cats)
Now click ok.
This should move all songs in that album to a folder in MyMusic/Itunes/Compilations/Cats0 -
For the compilation, highlight the whole album and then right click on it. Click on Get Info, there is a box which says 'Part of A Compliation' (or something like that). Put a tick in that box and click Apply (or OK). That should keep the album as a compilation.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
