I just moved into a place and want to get broadband.
The place has a bt phone line and also hgot broadband as far as i am aware.
I do not have any details of either the fone line or broadband. I do have the telephone number for the landline.
Whats the most efficient way to change the bt line to my name and then get a brand new broadband connection as fast as possible>?
Would the migration code be a problem for broadband?

If you mean there's a dial tone, dial 17070 and find out the phone number first.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

i do know the phone number
In that case, 0800 800 150 would be good place to start.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I doubt that broadband would be active on the line so a migration code wouldn't come into play as presumably the previous owners would have had it disconnected or if it's a new build adsl wouldn't have been activated.
You can check here http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php
it'll tell you whether adsl is activated and also what isp's are available.
Looking at various forums people say that o2/Be LLu is very good and cheap you can check if it's available by clicking on the LLu button after entering the phone number, I'd use them myself if only they'd unbundle my exchange0 -
I doubt it would be worth the trouble to check if the line is active and is all broadband ready. Many suppliers will offer telephone line service with their broadband now and connect the line cheaper then BT.
Can you name any supplier,s that will connect a phone line cheaper then Bt,s £29.99 offer ?0
