Aqua Credit Card Rant

I’ve had an Aqua card for about a year at a ridiculous 39.95% APR Though I’m not daft (anymore) with all the useful information I’ve found on here I’m very nearly debt free, using the card to build my rating, only making small purchases & paying it off in full if I did spend on it.
Anyway, earlier this year the fridge freezer broke and 2 weeks from pay day I put it on the card knowing I could pay it in full. Soon as the bill comes in they’ve doubled my limit. They’ve done this on 2 more occasions most recently I paid for my partners v expensive train season ticket, he got a job at last YIPPEE :j Bill comes in today, which I paid in full :grin:Low and behold they’ve increased my limit again. Little old me with debt history and a CCJ now has a grand total of £1,400 to spend with them if I so please.
Grrrrrrrr :mad:They just want to get us in to debt, a less savvy me a few years ago would have blown that as if it was my own cash in no time. Never being able to pay it off getting charged 39.95% APR for the pleasure grrr grrr grrr
Well I am wise to them now, I’ll use them for my benefit, spending only what I can afford to pay helping me and my rating J & thank Martin, his team and all you guys here. I don’t say much on the boards but reading all your tips, experience etc has helped me lots. Thank yous

They don't force you to accept the increase, you can refuse it if you don't want it.

Also, just because you have the facility does not mean you have to use it. Nothing wrong with having a limit of £1400 and only ever using £500 worth. I would just think of the extra as a safeguard for emergencies (i.e. life and death situations, not the desire for a new pair of shoes).
  • You got the card to improve your credit rating, and when they improve your credit rating (by giving you an increased limit) you complain?
    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries
  • I dont think I'm actually going to use it, unless there is no other option and I know I can pay it back in full ie for the season ticket, no shoes, been there done that have the ccj to show for it! It just makes me mad that they keep throwing this cash at me without me asking for it. Does make me smile however that they have never made any money from me because I pay in full :o)

I wish you all the best with your financial well-being. Unless we know the future we don't know what we might need in the way of credit. Better to have something to fall back on -- even if it is a terrible rate of interest -- than nothing at all.

They are making money - they get a percentage from every sale from the shops.
