Picture Question

Evening All,

Apologies for the schoolboy question, but I am unable to view some pictures now on my computer. This includes the smilies such as . These just show as a box with a red x in the middle. Please could someone advise on to how I can get pictures back. It just changed the other day

I noticed this too after a recent forum "scheduled maintenance", I'm pretty sure it's something on this forum rather than your pc.

I've just checked in 3 browsers (IE, Firefox and Chrome) and none of them are showing the smilies so I would agree it's the forum and not your PC.

I thought it might be too. But when I checked an email that I had sent from Hotmail last week that had pictures, I couldn't see the pictures today - they just had the red cross

So it's not just MSE where I'm seeing theses crosses

Also, have animated gifs been disabled (as an avatar)?? Other people's are being animated I notice, but never mine?? Thanks all.

I wandered over here to ask the same question as sammygirl I've worked out that old skool smilies show up & the ones that can be added to the heading of a post but the usual ones just disappear & become the red x in a box.

What's going on please clever techie peeps ?
