    Modulator-Demodulator= modem.
converts digital signals to analogue signals that the phone lines can use.
rarely used inside computers now, due to BB.

ie. my modem is inside the router.
    Get some gorm.

OK, but in my control panel there is no modem showing
This is all to do with connection probelms. I have been on BB (24/7)for nearly two years and suddenly I keep getting a pop up to say my BB is timed out! The aol helpline just keep telling me it is my modem or router (not sure what a router is) :o

  • You may have a broadband modem (probably external) which will plug into your computer via usb and connect to the phone line or you might have a router which will connect to the computer via RJ45 (LAN).

When does it time out? after you have connected for a while or immediately. If it is the former, it may well be a problem at their end.

I think you'll find they're not using it from the post above. :D

There you go....faith restored in the inability of AOL to provide any semblance of a reasonable service.
