Hi,
On the 31/10/2007 i bought an Acer 5920 laptop and during the time I've had it ive sent it back 3 times for various problems. Now i have a problem with my battery and power cord. The battery without charge won't last 10 mins without being plugged in and the original power cord doesn't even work any more.
Previoulsy i have always dealt directly with Acer and they now say:
"The battery comes with a 6month warranty. As this warranty has expired, I can advise you to contact our spare parts department to purchase a new one. The number is 0870 853 1007."

I think this is ridiculous because aren't these laptops suppost to last a reasonable amount of time.

What should i do now?

If the power cord is faulty then you should be able to insist that it is replaced under warranty.
The battery is more difficult, as they are generally considered to be consumable items.
Personally I would think that a battery dying at less than a year old is unreasonable, but in all probability you would have to resort to legal action, as Acer will probably tough it out against you.
Unless you are very persistent, your best bet may be to get a replacement battery via Ebay if available there.0 -
Go to your local trading standards department and ask them for help.0

Batteries are consumables...no claim to be made there. Like brake pads on a car, how long they last depends on usage and there's no guarantee that they'll last XX months.0
