I think sometimes the low memory message is just 'erroneous' : I have 7 Gigs space left and 256 ram, running xp, and I sometimes get the same message - but it has no detrimental effect on my laptop's performance.
BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? :shocked: OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

You need to free up the hard drive ~ its getting to its limits
Start backing up files to disc and deleting them off your hard drive:idea:0 -
Torresthegreat is indeed correct, that is poor advice. Rather than type it all out here I suggest downloading the relevant Tweaking Companion from Tweakguides. com. Read the section on Virtual Memory for a thorough explanation of what it is and what it should optimally be set to. Link below -

Is the pagefile currently set up to have a fixed size or is it managed automatically by Windows? Check this by;
Right click on My Computer
Click Properties
Click on the Advanced Tab
Click Performance
Check here that Memory Usage is set to Applications rather than Services.
Click on Change and see what it is currently set too.
When was the last time you ran a defragmentation utility on your hard drive? If not for a while, download JKDefrag and then run it. It could take anywhere between 15 minutes to 4 hours, so don't use your computer in the mean time.
After that, scan your system with your Antivirus package and then follow this guide from the top of the forums to make sure you haven't got anything malicious running on your computer.0
